"Roadkill" Series

"Roadkill" is a multi-panel charcoal series that confronts the tragic and often-overlooked cost of human expansion on wildlife. Rendered in stark black and white, this mosaic functions as an archaeological excavation, presenting the final, fragmented evidence of lives lost at the brutal intersection of nature and infrastructure.

"Roadkill" Highlights

The grid structure, composed of numerous individual studies, suggests the overwhelming scale of this conflict, transforming single moments of tragedy into a vast, continuous narrative. By juxtaposing these natural remains with stark visual signifiers of the human world, such as tire tracks and skeletal road signs, the work inextricably links the victims to their cause.

Selection from "Roadkill"

My process utilizes the high-contrast drama of charcoal on paper to emphasize the visceral reality of the remains—bone, feather, fur, and detritus—as they emerge from a void of deep, unforgiving black.

Selection from "Roadkill"

This series serves as a somber meditation on mortality, ecology, and our collective responsibility. It compels the viewer to confront the tangible consequences of our constructed environment, ensuring that these "roadkill" victims are not simply erased but are given a visible, enduring testament to their silent place in the crossfire.
